Spring Festival at Bright
Just before we left for the US I taught my Beneath the Surface class at Bright during their Spring Festival. What a lovely part of the country. The gardens were beautiful and Bright is a really pretty town with lots of foodie places on the way there too.
I have never taught in a pub before and the class couldn't start till 10 because that's when the pub opened. However we had a large room with lots of space so once we found the airconditioning switch we were fine.
Some of my students - Anne and Janice came all the way from Wagga to have another class with me which was so thrilling for me. Groupies !!
They actually got to the basting stage of their quilts which was terrific.

Beneath the Surface Workshop
Today I taught my first workshop for the year. It is called Beneath the Surface.
It was a fun day and I had great students. I can't wait to see photos of finished quilts.

Beneath the Suface

This is my latest quilt project to be published.
It is called Beneath the Surface and can be found in the latest issue of Australian Patchwork and Quilting.
The original was made with hand dyed cotton and raw silk and of course embellished with beads with the additional feature of Angelina Fibre leaves floating along.
The quilt spent a couple of years with one of the Ricky Timms exhibitions and has been home for a while now.
The original beads used for the quilt are no longer available but I have substituted others in the kit and you can order it from the website with just the hand dyed cottons or the silk for an additional cost. Angelina fibres are also included in the kit so if you have wanted to play about with simple curved piecing, beading and Angelina Fibres here is the perfect project.
The pattern is available locally but if you can't get it I am happy to purchase one and add it to your order.

Quilt Comes Home Too
About two years ago I submitted a quilt to be included in the inaugural Exhibition at the Ricky Timms Gallery in La Veta CO. Amazingly it was accepted and off it went. Very little was ever mentioned about the gallery again and the travelling exhibitions so I expected that it was sitting in a storeroom somewhere in the wilds of Colorado.
One day out of the blue I received an email telling me that the quilt was hanging in the final venue and would be sent home at the end of July.
Well - it arrived home today and I was pleased to get it. It was one of my first beaded works and a favourite so I am thrilled to see it again. For those of you new to my blog I will show it to you now.
It is called Beneath the Surface and is now for sale if you are interested.
