Studio Update

While I was away the builder finished off and Peter started painting. The light is wonderful - the space is so incredible. I just wish I could move in but I am off again in a couple of days and the floor is still to be sanded.

Look at the neat work tables we have designed. They fold down into the old fireplaces.

It is giving me so much joy just to go in there.

Renovation Update

The builder is nearly finished. Track lighting is in and wonderfully bright during the day with the skylights.

The fireplaces are going to become lift up work benches and ironing table.

Down to the fine tuning now. Peter will be painting it while I am away and the floors being done next week. Can't wait.

Off to Coffs Harbour to Be Creative now for five days so won't be blogging here but will maintain updates on Twitter - just click on the Follow me on Twitter link.

Have you seen our Ribbon?

Amazing isn't it? We are still over the moon and thanks to everyone who has written to me. Unfortunately if you leave an anonymous comment I can't reply directly but I am so grateful for all your kind words.

Meanwhile back at the studio - it is only just a week since they started and this is how it is coming along. I am thrilled.
This was at 7pm yesterday and they were still at it.

The hallway is looking a bit worse for wear though.

Renovations Day 3

The wall is removed and the ceiling is down. The stuff on the floor is the cellulose insulation which was the messiest and dirtiest part of the job. It went everywhere and had to be removed slowly in buckets.

The skylights went in and flooded the room with light. New insulation is now in place .

Went with the electrician to a lighting store and selected gallery style track lighting. Also planned power outlets and will be having 12 double points. That is 24 outlets in the one room. Do you think I will have enough?

Tomorrow - ceiling and plaster!

I have been playing around with the floor plan and scale shapes of everything that I am trying to fit in. Even though this studio is bigger than anything I have had before - I am still struggling to fit it all in but it will all be fine in the end.

Renovations Day 1

Today we started (ok the builder started) and I was very impressed with the progress.
These two rooms which were originally bedrooms and have recently been a studio and a store room are to be combined to create one large studio.

This is the wall that is coming down. Plaster and lathe and horsehair were the components 100 years ago when this house was built.

The slats were put on first and then the plaster pushed on and through.

By the end of the day we have an indication about the new space.

and what is this you ask - it is a petrified dead rat which we found in the wall cavity.
