Flying In WA

That is Western Australia for those of you in the USA who think I might mean Washington (or whichever state is WA - excuse my ignorance).

I am currently in Perth for the Quilt and Craft Fair but have been over here for a few days already teaching up north in Geraldton and Dongara. Wonderful places and such nice ladies. More of that later.

I always take photos out of plane windows - I have hundreds and really should do something with them one day. This is a part of Australia I have never been to so while flying up the coast in a fairly small plane we have the greatest view of the dry parched land.

It is desperate for water and when you see it from the air you can really appreciate how dry it is. In such contrast to the incredibly blue ocean.

Water

I have been asked to contribute a small piece for a larger work of art by a friend. The topic is recycled water and we have been asked to provide a textile and a word or two which means something to us.

I found a wonderful piece of hand dyed silk at my local thrift store and so as that is recycled I thought I would use a small piece of it. My word is refresh so I have beaded it onto the silk.

I quite like the effect so may be using it further. I hope it is what she wanted.
