Painting Time

Bit of time to do some painting today between dyeing sessions and a yummy Japanese lunch.
This was an exercise from the Jane LaFazio class I had to interrupt while I was in Houston.
I was a bit creative with this as the shoe is actually a boring brown. Maybe I should look for a red pair now.

Homework

I am doing a Watercolour Journal Online Course with Jane LaFazio but unfortunately I really wasn't able to fit my homework in when I was away. I am trying to catch up a little but tomorrow I will get the final lesson and still have to complete last week's one.

I am enjoying it but will probably just do it at my own pace.

These are a few of my latest pieces. I first did the banksia seed pods but for some reason called them Gum nuts. So if you look closely you will see that I have relabelled them Not Gum Nuts.
The flowers are Love in a Mist which are prolific in my garden at the moment due to a random scattering of seeds from a friend's garden. I had trouble getting the right colour but I just call it artistic licence.

I also have some gorgeous pink poppies but will wait for the seed pods as the flowers are a bit beyond me I think.

Watercolour Class

I am procrastinating this morning - or call it writers block but I cut this orange for juice and then decided to paint it. I am doing Jane LaFazio's Sketchbook and Watercolour Journal course online through Joggles and need to practice (obviously).

Anyway - not very happy with the orange as I couldn't get the colour right and the shadows are a bit off but I will persevere as I have always wanted to do this style of work.

I preferred my first attempt of Pears and Mango. Watch the blog for progress (hopefully improving) as I intend to take my little kit on the road. Brisbane tomorrow, Houston next week!

Drawings

I am trying to be good and use my travel journal and find I am increasingly being drawn to architecture rather than nature.

These were some of the windows and stonework at Arundel Castle

My watercolour sketch

This was a window in Birmingham near the Art Gallery which took my fancy.
