Well the long awaited holiday is finally here and I am here in the USA with my husband. It is his first trip and as he is English the culture shock was expected to be severe. I am hoping to blog some pictures but still to work that out.
Due to my day job with an airline I am able to fly relatively cheaply and also in slightly more comfort so our trip here was comfotable and liberally punctuated with good food and food movies. I watched the Devil Wears Prada and even though I am not much of a fashion plate, I really enjoyed it.
Day one saw us overlooking a smoggy LA from the spectacular Getty Museum. The outside of the buildings and the gardens are actually more interesting than the exhibits and it was a great way to start the trip.
Staying with a like minded quilter and dyer meant there was lots of show and tell and seeing lots of must have books and hearing about wonderful workshops which are usually out of the reach of those of us downunder. Last night we beaded, prepared fabric for dyeing , prepared some more dye samples for my wonderful dyeing book.
A trip to the supermarket is always interesting when I travel.
So that's what you do with those pesky brats!

The garden sculptures/mazes are, well, amazing. (Makes my budding kangaroo paws look a little feeble.) I've lost count of how many times I have travelled to America but I still find a trip to the supermarket a real eye opener. Wishing you safe travelling.
Wonderful Wonderful Getty Museum... aaaahhhhh what an amazing place David and I spent many hours browsing around the gardens and building and I'm glad we aren't the only ones who found the exhibits just a tad forgettable, maybe they were overshadowed by the amazing site. I do remember the drive from there to our accomodation in Anaheim in Evening Peak traffic with David not knowing his left from his right while he navigated LOL. Will be looking forward to more photos Lisa and Peter, have a super super time, cheers Pennie
