Some more memories

The Hearst Castle at San Simeon was the ultimate in excess and obsession. This is the external pool and the internal one is even more spectactular

New York New York was my favourite casino/hotel complex in Las Vegas - I loved the architecture and the attempt to make it look like the New York skyline

This was our hotel room at the Pine Rose Inn near Yosemite - note the jacuzzi to the left. The room also has a stairway going nowhere which had three quilts draped over the bannister. The selling point was that you could sit in the jacuzzi and watch tv which of course you couldn't hear over the water jets. It also took an hour to fill enough to cover the jets but the breakfast was wonderful.

They were doing a controlled burn in the Mariposa Grove in Yosemite - home of the Giant Sequoias - the setting sunlight through the smoke was beautiful

Hearst Castle... what a place that was, we visited it way back in 1969 and were gobbsmacked! And this was after two years touring Europe! Hearst Castle felt like a bit of a circus really, we drove past about 10 years ago and it looked bigger than Disneyland... love to hear all about it when you get back. cheers Pennie

Hello. I saw a message of your on quiltart and had to drop by to see your travel photos. They're really lovely. That one with smoke in Yosemite is particularly wonderful. Goes nicely with the smoked brats from a previous entry! :-)

Lisa,
I was at Yosemite in September and also found it beautiful. The sequoias were awesome without smoke too, but your pictures shows them wonderfully.
I was in San Francisco too and those signs were everywhere including the little hotel we stayed in. We were told there is a Calif. law that requires those signs for all the old buildings in case there is asbestos or anything like that anywhere in the building. It was kinda creepy.
Glad you enjoyed Houston. Wish I could have been there this year.

Stunning photographs, Lisa. This is somewhere in USA that I'd really like to visit - this and Maine and Vermont.
