Still Here

Musee D'Orsay is a haven for those of us that love Impressionism although there is much more on show.
But how can you not be impressed by the amazing space

or just to stand in front of these masterpieces?

This is my favourite Monet and the detail is wonderful but probably won't show up here well.

Do you know Rodin had a sulk and gave back the commission for this and took back the sculpture which took him over 4 years?

But not sure about this Monet - does anyone know why it is in two pieces and different sizes?

The Art Deco section is also a favourite - this was a mass produced railing that never took off - I would have bought them!

It was originally a railway station and these clocks give an amazing view of Sacre Coeur and Montmatre but the light coming in makes it difficult to see in a photo but if you look really really hard...

All that was so exhausting that I just had to stop and get one of these monster meringue to eat on the way home. They are about 8 inches across. Not very elegant but so yummy!

The Degas little ballerina prompted us to buy our daughter (who was 4 at the time) a book based on the statue which I read to her in a bistro and embarrassed myself by crying copiously over lunch.
We have a print of that Monet snow painting in our lounge room. DH saw it in NYC (touring exhibition), loved it and bought the print. Thanks for sharing the d'Orsay!

I was in Paris two years ago and this brought back such wonderful memories of Museee D'Orsay. I was awestruck by the fact that I was standing in front of this fabulous art that I had only seen in books. And you could take pictures! The building itself was incredible! Thank you for sharing your trip. Your pictures are great!
I am going to Japan for two weeks on Wednesday and would love to do what you're doing, but I don't have a laptop to bring.
