Final Days

Well the trip has come to it's end. What a fabulous trip with so many brilliant memories. We fly home last night and I am sure I will catch up on my sleep soon.

We spent the last day doing a bit of the cultural stuff including the main shrine which is a World Heritage Listed site and amazingly beautiful and serene.

Just outside the shrine in the park there were hundreds of men playing a game. We couldn't work out the rules but it was obviously very popular as there was also a whole TV channel playing this 24 hours a day.

We also found the knitting and lace street.

Oh well - back to reality! Thanks for all your great comments and encouragement - we had a great time and hope you enjoyed sharing it with us.

Normal programming will now resume.

One name for the game is Go, and it is a strategy game with players alternately placing stones on the board. It is actually quite fun!

We traveled from Tokyo to San Francisco by sea in 1970 and all the Japanese students played 'Go' on the ship... I've seen it played in China Town in Sydney as well but I've never understood it! I can play Mahjong though :-)

I used to love to play Go - it's the oldest game in the world, I believe. Lovely pics!
