Sewing Machine Freedom in Perth

I have just been teaching my Sewing Machine Freedom Workshop at Handcrafters House in Perth. It is based on my Breaking the Drought quilt and a great way to get to know your sewing machine better. So many buttons on our machines are never touched and I am always pleased to see even the most timid student start to experiment with their machine as the workshop progresses

Once we have created a range of embellished fabrics using machine embroidery stitches and couching and bobbin work and machine applique we cut out the fabrics into three simple interlocking shapes and these form the basis of the quilt.
It is always fun laying the pieces out and seeing a quilt start to appear.

This little quilt top was completed in class by Pat and she has a special place for it planned already.
If you would like to know more about this or other workshops please contact me as I am already booking into 2013 and 2014.
