Thread Dyeing Workshop

I am running my last workshop for the year in my home studio in Sydney - THREADS TO DYE FOR -  on 10th September. It was originally a week later but my son is coming for a visit all the way from Scotland and that was the only day available for a family get together.

In this workshop you learn how to skein your threads and then dye them in a rainbow of colours along with a coordinated metre of hand dyed fabric. All threads/fabrics/dyes are included in the cost of this three hour workshop along with a yummy morning tea.

Pamela did this workshop earlier in the year and her blog entry will give you a better idea of what you will be doing. I recently went to her exhibition and saw lots of hand dyed threads in her work which looked terrific

Threads to Dye For Workshop February 5th Sydney

 I am running my Threads to Dye For Workshop at my home studio in Lewisham Sydney on Saturday morning 5th February. This workshop will teach you all you need to know to dye your own beautiful threads and yarns to embellish your work.

All dyes, threads and even a metre of fabric and cupcakes are provided - you just need to bring gloves and a container to bring them home in.

Dazzling

I have added Dazzle Threads by Wonderfil to my product range as I use and recommend them all the time for bobbin work in my quilts. I have chosen a selection of colours and am happy to increase the range if required.

Dyeing Threads

A couple of years ago I purchased a selection of yarns to try out for dyeing but of course it was a bit fiddly so I put them aside. I did, however, get as far as tying them in even hanks and labelling them with tyvek. Unfortunately I bought them from Rooby's Web of Thread which no longer exists so even if I liked them enough to do more I am probably unable to find them.

Anyway - I had some leftover dyes and armed with a You Tube Video of yarn dyeing I thought I would give it a go.

Not too bad - there are some white gaps still but they will be added to the pile of things to use sometime.
