Well - he finished the top - pretty clever for a first timer. I think he may be hooked.

New Quilt
Here is a sneak peak of my latest quilt.
I have used my Autumn Leaves pack and some lovely Leaf Fusibles with simple squares and rectangles.
I am sewing the binding on tonight and then tomorrow I might show you the finished quilt. I had great fun quilting this. Can you see the leaves?
What do you think?

Home for a Minute
I rarely get a chance to blog while I am away but am always thrilled by how many people make the effort to tell me how much they enjoy the blog. Thank you so much for visiting and commenting. Makes me feel really special.
We had a wonderful time in Brisbane as always and it is great to catch up with old friends.
Our trip back was long but always interesting and now that I have worked out the motordrive on my camera I was busy taking shots. Pity about my dirty window.
Australia is incredibly beautiful and varied. I especially love stopping along the way and seeing classic towns. We stopped in Glen Innes for breakfast and there are some beautiful traditional Australian buildings still in excellent condition.
Here is a Balancing Rock - don't you just want to go and push it?
This bank building facade was retained while the old building behind it was rebuilt. I love that they kept the art deco facade.

SAQA Exhibition in Brisbane
I was thrilled that my quilt Crystallisation was selected for the inaugural SAQA Oceania Exhibition and even more excited to find it in pride of place at the entrance to the show. It is the one on the left and another of my new classes which will be at Be Creative by the Sea Retreat.

My entry The Eyes Have It won third prize in the Commercially Quilted Category as well so it certainly was a great show for me. Here is a link to all the Prize Winners.

Good News
I have just been informed that the quilt I did with my friend Nic Bridges - Bushfire Sunset - has been accepted to Houston. I am very thrilled.
Here is a little bit of it as I don't know if you are allowed to post pictures.

Wonderful Day
What an amazing start to the Brisbane Show. I had been contacted to say I had won a prize so was very excited this morning as the Show opened. Imagine my surprise when my name was announced with a second prize for Squared Up in the commercially quilted category (quilted by Nic Bridges of course). Then first prize announced Nic with her quilt Crossroads. What a team.
Sheer Magic also received a 3rd prize which was terrific as well but the biggest thrill was having Squared Up awarded Best Use of Colour. It is an award that I have always coveted as colour is my main inspiration so to win this has really made my day/week/year.
Here it is again just to remind you of what it looks like but it now looks better with two ribbons on it.

Met lots of lovely people at the stand as well so a great but very exhausting day.
Link to all the winners has just been posted - check them out.

Setting up the Brisbane Show
Today we set up our stand at the Brisbane Quilt & Craft Show. It took ages as it was so hot but as the loading dock doors were open there was no point in trying to cool down all of Brisbane. I am very pleased with how it finished up.

Should be a fun show as I am surrounded by friends and really interesting booths that I haven't seen before. I think I am going to have to buy one or two things.........
