Sunrise

My very talented friend Frans Hillege is a great photographer and kindly allowed me to use some of his beautiful photos for inspiration for some Luscious Landscape quilt samples for my upcoming trip to the UK.

These are both shots from a stunning sunrise from his beautiful farm in the Otways in Victoria.

They were created by placing pieces of fabric onto a piece of batting and then softening the edges with wool rovings and covered with water soluble stabiliser and stitched. I also couched thicker threads and worked upside down using the bobbin thread as the main detail. Stabiliser was then washed away and some more stitching done eg the little birds and trees.

Here are some detail shots

I think some beads are also called for and will be doing that soon

If you are interested in organising this workshop or any others in 2013 please contact me

A quilting friend told me about you....I'm so glad that she did.
I do like your quilts based on your friend's photos.
