WOW

I have just found out that Bushfire Sunset is on the cover of the AQS Fall catalogue. When they wrote and asked if they could use a picture of in some promotional material I just assumed a little bit of an ad for Paducah. Never did I imagine this!
They have even used sections of it on top of every page! You can go to the link and even flick through it.

Pretty cool isn't it?
Maybe I should write a book so I can something inside the catalogue too.....

Exciting News Again

I heard this morning that Bushfire Sunset by Nic Bridges and myself has been awarded 2nd prize at the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham. It is so thrilling - I really wish I had been there for the announcement but can't really complain as I am having such a wonderful time in New Zealand.

If any of you are in Birmingham and want to take a picture in situ I would love to see it.

Today we had an early start for the five hour drive to Picton for the InterIsland ferry to Wellington.

It went quickly with such beautiful views as these.

Have you seen our Ribbon?

Amazing isn't it? We are still over the moon and thanks to everyone who has written to me. Unfortunately if you leave an anonymous comment I can't reply directly but I am so grateful for all your kind words.

Meanwhile back at the studio - it is only just a week since they started and this is how it is coming along. I am thrilled.
This was at 7pm yesterday and they were still at it.

The hallway is looking a bit worse for wear though.

AMAZING NEWS

Nic Bridges and I have just found out that our quilt BUSHFIRE SUNSET has been awarded 3rd Prize in its category at Paducah.

To say we are thrilled is an absolute understatement!

Fellow Australian Mariya Waters has won Best of Show for her incredible Rennaisance Revival.

Paducah Acceptance

Thrilled to get a letter letting me know that Bushfire Sunset has been accepted to the AQS Show in Paducah. Now I just have to redo the hanging sleeve.
This is a collaborative quilt with Nic Bridges and we are very proud of it.

Thanks for all your nice comments. The quilt is 80" x 80" and this is only a detail shot. The tree is overlaid hand dyed silk organza and the pieceing is all sorts of fabrics including velvet, organza, hand dyed and painted fabrics, linen, cotton and silk.

Bushfire Sunset at Houston

Bushfire Sunset which I made with Nic Bridges was a finalist at Houston.
No awards unfortunately but still an honour to be selected and it is still my favourite quilt (so far).

Thanks to Margaret and Mary-Anne who took some photos of it for me.

Finished Top

Today another milestone was reached - I finished the top for my next large quilt. I can't show the quilt yet but here are some leftover blocks to give you a taste.

It is called Bushfire Sunset.

These are the fabrics which were sorted into their respective batches. It has been a wonderful exercise in colour.

Now it is off to be quilted by Nic.

Ok - now onto the next deadline which has lots of beading.
