New Fabric Combinations & Price Reductions

Due to the great Australian dollar - we have been able to REDUCE OUR PRICES on our basic cotton poplin fabric sets. This is our main fabric and is a high thread count 100% cotton. I never use homespun as I prefer the soft hand and fine texture of this fabric. Check out the website for the new prices.

We have been dyeing some new combinations of our colour sets to celebrate the price drop.
Above is Boysenberry
and this one is Mocca
This is Rockmelon (Cantelope to some)
And this is fresh cool green is Peppermint (I keep thinking of Aero Bars)
 Hope you like them.
They are available in Fat quarter, 1/2m and 1 metre sets of 6 and will be at the AQC next week as well.
I will be posting more of my new products over the next few days and am very exited about them.

Odd Fabric Find

I was in a charity/thrift/Salvation Army store today and this pair of pants caught my eye. Not to wear myself of course (my lower half is far too large) but the fabric is 100% silk and great colours. So for $5 I think I have a bargain.

It wasn't till I got it home I looked at the design more carefully and realised what a strange design. Can understand why someone gave it away but hopefully bits of it will appear in a quilt someday.

They are all available on the website and will be at the Embroiderers Guild Show at Homebush Sydney (10-14th October), Brisbane Quilt Show (24th-28th October) and Adelaide Quilt Show (8th-11th November)

We have also done some wonderful rainbow sets which I will show you later.

Hope you like them.

Latest publication

I posted this fabric earlier as one of a selection offered for a ad. Here it is and it gives me credit which is always a bonus.

Drawing Class

I cannot draw - I cannot transfer an image from my eyes to a page. It frustrates me that no one ever taught me to draw in 6 years of high school art class. So I have finally done something about it and enrolled in a nine week evening class run by a local art store.
Lesson one was mainly about learning about the tools and charcoal and pencils. I now know the difference between H for hard and B for broad pencils and the difference between natural and compressed charcoal.

We also spent the best part of the lesson learning to measure with the pencil and squinting.
I think I will enjoy this class and may be brave enough to share my progress with you.

I am also curious about someone from Sassafras who seems to have been permanently on my blog for a couple of days. I hope it is something technical and not that you are hanging around waiting for something interesting to happen. You may be disappointed.

We have also been dyeing frantically for the upcoming Melbourne Quilt Show.

Still Painting

I was asked to provide some painted fabrics for potential use in advertising Lumiere Paints and new store Idyll Pleasures and these are some which I did fairly quickly. My favourite is the first one.

Wet Christmas Eve

Dawn is slowly creeping up on Christmas Eve and the sound of heavy raindrops is wonderful. We are having a drought here and heavy water restrictions which is playing havoc with my garden so the sound of raindrops falling in the darkness was a great way to wake up. Even the birds seems to be enjoying it with a dawn chorus accompanying the rain.

Should make some interesting patterns on these pieces of hand painted fabric which probably won't dry today.

Sunday Sunshine

Today started out as hot and still so I thought I would paint some fabrics. The wind came up later which helped them dry but I am hoping for rain as there is now rock salt all over the paving.
These are available on my website Dyed & Gone to Heaven now if you are interested.
